New Mexico Chile On The Way To Superbowl Cities

While Denver may have lost the Super Bowl, the city is getting something from Albuquerque.

Albuquerque Mayor Richard Berry on Friday packed up a shipment of red and green chile for Denver officials.

The gift of fresh-frozen Hatch green and Chimayo red chile stems from the furor created after Denver Mayor Michael Hancock offered the city's "amazing green chile" last month if the Broncos lost to the Seattle Seahawks.

That claim did not sit well with New Mexicans and evoked a flurry of comments on social media and even state officials.

Berry says he plans to challenge Denver to a chile cookoff in the future.

Berry is sending a package of chile goodies to Seattle too.
