New Mexico Gets Federal Grant For Insurance Division

By KRWG News

New Mexico – The state Insurance Division has been awarded a $226,000 federal grant to bolster customer service at the agency.

The funds from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services will be used to help consumers with the filing of complaints and appeals and to provide information to those consumers interested in health insurance coverage.

The money will also go toward collecting, tracking and quantifying problems and inquiries by consumers on their rights and responsibilities with respect to group health plans and health insurance coverage.

Insurance Superintendent John Franchini says anything the agency can do to help consumers is a positive step forward.
