New Mexico Health Centers Get Millions In Federal Aid

By KRWG News

New Mexico – U.S. Senator Jeff Bingaman today announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has awarded a total of $26.4 million to help New Mexico health care centers expand access to quality health care.

The funding was made possible through grant programs established under new health insurance law that took effect six months ago.

Funding was awarded to the following New Mexico health care centers and can be used for construction and renovation needs and to expand access to quality health care.

* Ben Archer Health Center in Hatch $5.77 million

* La Clinica de Familia Inc. in Las Cruces $3.78 million

* Hidalgo Medical Services in Lordsburg $8.71 million

* First Choice Community Healthcare Inc. in Albuquerque $8.15 million

"Community health centers provide vital services to some of our state's most vulnerable residents," Bingaman said. "This funding will help expand services to New Mexicans while also creating construction and health care jobs."
