New Mexico's unemployment rate was 6.8 percent last month, but federal officials said that's essentially unchanged from July.
The state Workforce Solutions Department said Friday the unemployment rate was 6.9 percent in July and 7 percent in August 2012.
New Mexico wasn't among the 14 states the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported as having a statistically significant unemployment rate change since last August.
The national jobless rate was 7.3 percent last month.
The state agency said jobs have grown by 0.9 percent since last August, a gain of 6,900 over the year. The leisure and hospital industry had the largest increase in jobs, about 4,400. Government had a net loss of 3,100 jobs, and the department said most of that was at the federal and local levels.
