New Mexico Man Pleads Guilty To Voluntary Manslaughter

A Sanostee man has pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and assault charges and could be facing a 15-year sentence in a New Mexico federal prison.

Prosecutors say 43-year-old Roderick Talk entered into a plea agreement Tuesday in Albuquerque.

Talk was arrested in June and charged in a criminal complaint with killing a man in New Mexico's San Juan County on May 30.

Prosecutors say Talk and the victim argued while drinking and that led to a fatal assault.

Talk also was accused of trying to injure the victim's nephew with a pickup truck on the Navajo Nation.

At sentencing, prosecutors say Talk faces a statutory maximum penalty of 15 years in federal prison but the court will determine the exact sentence. A sentencing hearing has yet to be scheduled.
