New Mexico Road Closures Begin Due To Arizona Wildfire

New Mexico – The New Mexico Department of Transportation has posted information regarding road conditions due to the fire in Arizona which has created heavy smoke throughout New Mexico. Therefore, motorists are asked to use extreme caution as they may encounter low visibility as they make their travels.

Currently the District One area has an alert posted on US-180 in the Glenwood area and on US-60 between Socorro and Magdalena, NM for those travel towards Arizona. There is a closure on US-180 as you exit New Mexico in to Arizona, which is still in affect.

Frank Guzman, District One Engineer stated that safety is an issue that we must focus our efforts on, and will provide assistance as needed when requested by our partnering agencies in securing roadways with traffic control. The department will post alerts at www.nmroads.com as we are informed.
