New Mexico – New Mexico labor officials say the state's unemployment rate held steady at 8.2 percent in July.
The state Department of Workforce Solutions released its monthly employment report Wednesday. It shows the state's over-the-year job growth was negative 0.8 percent, meaning the state has lost about 6,600 jobs.
The agency says the good news is that the job situation is starting to look better than it has in several months, even with only three of the state's 13 industries posting annual job growth gains for July.
The job losses for the other industries in many cases were in the hundreds. The agency says that's an improvement from previous reported declines in the thousands.
Labor officials say the educational and health services industry added the most jobs, up 5,000 over the past year.
