New Mexico Woman, 70, Fighting Bingo Ban

A 70-year-old New Mexico woman banned from an Alamogordo bingo hall is fighting to get back in the game.

KRQE-TV reports Evangeline Shelland of Alamogordo says for two years she's been prevented for paying her favorite game at the Fraternal Order of Eagles club in town.

She says her banishment came after management told her they had received letters from people accusing her of driving erratically in the parking lot. However, Shelland says she's never been shown any evidence of bad driving.

Since the bingo ban, she's asked the New Mexico Attorney General's Office for help.

The Attorney General's Office says it didn't have jurisdiction over the club and couldn't force it to allow Shelland to play.

The club declined to comment.
