New Mexico's Eagle Nest Lake Opens For Ice Fishing

The state Game and Fish Department says Eagle Nest Lake in northern New Mexico is open for ice fishing.

The agency said the ice is safe for foot traffic, but snowmobiles and other motor vehicles are prohibited on the lake.

The State Parks Division monitors the ice thickness on the lake to ensure it is safe for fishing.

Information about ice conditions is available by calling Eagle Nest Lake State Park, 575-377-1594.

The 2,400-acre lake is about 30 miles east of Taos.
