A new phone line has been established to hear from veterans who have an appointment scheduled greater than 30 days from a clinically indicated date. We want to hear from those veterans to assure they have information to consider their options for care within the NMVAHCS or through the Veterans Choice Program.
Veterans can dial a direct number of (505) 222-3351 to provide a New Mexico VA Health Care System staff member with the specifics about their appointment that is scheduled greater than 30 days from a clinically indicated date. The veterans are asked to have their specific appointment information available to speak with staff Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., or to leave their name and phone number for a return call. The line will be open beginning Thursday, April 9, at 9 a.m. through Thursday, April 23, at 3 p.m.
Beginning November 5, 2014, the VA’s Veterans Choice Program was implemented to cover non-VA care for eligible veterans enrolled in VA healthcare. For more information on the Veterans Choice Program, visit the dedicated website at: http://www.va.gov/opa/choiceact/index.asp.
