New Review In Sunland Park Case

Embezzlement charges against a former consultant for the city of Sunland Park have been dismissed but authorities are once again reviewing the case.

Prosecutors last month had the charges against Annette Morales dropped, a decision that was questioned by attorneys and investigators.

District Attorney Mark D'Antonio says he stands by the decision to dismiss the charges but he say he failed to keep State Police investigators in the loop.

He says that's why investigators and prosecutors are again discussing the case.

Morales has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing. She was accused of taking more than $250,000 from Sunland Park and of using the money for home improvement projects and personal expenses.
