New Mexico State University will host a literary magazine launch party for “Tiresias” at 6 p.m. Friday, April 4, at the Nason House, 1070 University Ave. The event will be in Spanish.
NMSU’s Department of Languages and Linguistics through Arenas Blancas Publications and NMSU’s Center for Latin American and Border Studies are sponsoring the event.
“Tiresias” is a Spanish magazine about literature and graphic design, which is based in Juarez, Mexico, and includes collaborators from the U.S., Cuba and Columbia. Diego Ordaz and Jair Tapia will make the presentation.
Ordaz, one of the magazine’s editors, earned a master’s degree in Spanish at NMSU. He is teaching at Universidad Autonoma de Ciudad Juarez. In 2008, he accepted the David Alfaro Siqueiros Fellowship for his work “That Hand that Drives Us.” In 2011, his NMSU thesis project “Days and Dust” was published.
Tapia, who teaches at Tecnologico de Monterrey, is the magazine’s art collaborator. Las Cruces authors Adriana Candia and Miguel De La Cruz also will be guests at the presentation.
The event is free and open to the public.
