New Voting Machines To Debut Across New Mexico

New Mexico voters will be casting ballots on brand new machines this November.

The voting machines, which cost nearly $12 million to buy and set up, will make their debut at the polls in the Nov. 4 general election.

The Secretary of State's Office says clerks in all 33 counties have been thoroughly trained in how to use them.

Officials say more than 1,700 of the new voting tabulators have been distributed across the state.

A Legislative Finance Committee report released earlier this month, however, questioned the reliance of the machines.

The state says the machines, which come from a Colorado-based vendor, are part of an effort to get updated election technology.
