New York City Man Gets Prison In New Mexico Cocaine Case

A New York City man has been sentenced to nearly nine years in federal prison for cocaine trafficking in New Mexico.

Federal prosecutors say 32-year-old Malik S. Williams, of The Bronx, was sentenced Monday and will be on five years of supervised release after serving his 105-month prison term.

Williams was arrested on Sept. 19, 2014 at the Amtrak train station in Albuquerque.

Federal drug agents say Williams had concealed bundles containing more than three kilograms of cocaine in his luggage.

Williams was subsequently indicted and charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.

He pleaded guilty to the indictment last November and admitted possessing and transporting three bundles of cocaine concealed inside the bottom liner of his suitcase.
