SANTA FE, N.M. – A committee composed of commission members Dick Salopek, Tom Arvas and Bill Montoya began its work Wednesday.
The position will be advertised in major regional newspapers and with nationwide fish and wildlife agencies, universities and conservation organizations.
Qualified applicants have until Sept. 21 to submit resumes and other materials for consideration.
The commission plans to select the new director from a list of five finalists identified by the search committee at its Nov. 3 meeting in Farmington.
The new director will replace Tod Stevenson, who plans to retire in October.
The annual salary for the exempt director's position ranges from $56,000 to $100,000 based on experience and budgeting approval.
