NM Broadband Expansion

By KRWG News

New Mexico – USDA Rural Development State Director Terry Brunner announced a plan Wednesday to expand broadband service.

The USDA is providing an $11.5 million dollar loan to the Western New Mexico Telephone Company based in Silver City.

Brunner says .the loan will bring new telecommunication services to the most rural residents in Catron, Grant, Hidalgo, and Socorro Counties.

The USDA program provides low-interest loans to deploy broadband and telecommunications services to rural communities of 20,000 residents or less, with first priority going to areas without broadband.
