Albuquerque – New Mexico's candidates for governor will appear later this month in their first debate of the general election campaign.
Albuquerque Public Schools is hosting the debate on Aug. 19 at 6 p.m. in the performing arts center at Eldorado High School.
Superintendent Winston Brooks will moderate the debate featuring Democrat Diane Denish and Republican Susana Martinez.
Denish and Martinez also have agreed to participate in a conference by New Mexico State University's Domenici Public Policy Institute on Sept. 2. The event is not a debate, but is described as a joint appearance by the candidates.
