NM Center for Family Policy To Host Rally in Support of Belen Nativity Scene & Mayor Jerah Cordova

The NM Center for Family Policy (NMCFP) is holding a rally in support of Belen’s Nativity scene and its mayor, Jerah Cordova, this Sunday, August 23, at 1:15 p.m. at Theresa Tabet Park.

NMCFP Executive Director Jonathan Gardner issued the following statement: “Last week, the Freedom From Religion Foundation sent Belen a letter claiming that the Nativity scene in Theresa Tabet Park is unconstitutional, violating ‘separation of church and state.’  The phrase ‘separation of church and state’ does not appear in the Constitution, and the Constitution was designed to protect the church from government interference, not to drive all religious expression from the public square.  We invite all Belen residents and all New Mexicans to stand with us at Theresa Tabet Park on Sunday to show support for the City of Belen, Mayor Jerah Cordova, and religious liberty.”

The NM Center for Family Policy helps New Mexicans walk in God’s ways, in His truth, in all areas of life by effectively exercising their rights as citizens to build a New Mexico where God is honored, life is cherished, religious liberty flourishes, and families thrive.  Learn more at www.nmcfp.com.
