NM Congressional Candidate Had 11 Arrest Warrants

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Congressional candidate Eric Griego has been the subject of at least 11 arrest warrants for traffic violations in recent years.

The Albuquerque Journal Wednesday reports the warrants were issued in Bernalillo County between 2000 and 2007 after the Democratic state senator failed to appear at scheduled court hearings or missed court-ordered driver school programs for things like speeding.

In 1998, Griego was arrested for drunken driving in Dallas. He pleaded guilty and received probation.

Griego's campaign manager, Ed Yoon, says Griego addressed the violations, paid the fines and regrets the warrants. He says they do not reflect on Griego's ability to represent Albuquerque in Congress.

Griego is in a heated three-way primary for the Democratic nomination to replace Rep. Martin Heinrich, a Democrat who is running for U.S. Senate.
