NM county Offers Rain Barrel Program For Residents

By KRWG News

Albuquerque, New Mexico – ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRWG) The monsoon season is under way, and Bernalillo County wants its residents to make every drop count.

The county is offering rain barrels to property owners in unincorporated areas who are not customers of the Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority.

To qualify for the rain barrel program, residents have to sign up for a home water conservation survey. Once the county verifies there's a way for the rain barrel to be used on a resident's property, residents will pay only $40 for a 100-gallon rain barrel.

Parts of the county have been soaked with afternoon and evening thunderstorms the last couple of days, and the National Weather Service is expecting more scattered storms the rest of the week.
