NM families seek federal aid due to bad weather

KRWG News – ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (krwg) Some 92 New Mexico families have asked about or applied for federal loans and grants to fix their homes and upgrade due to damages from recent bad weather in the state.

That word comes from Rural Development State Director Terry Brunner.

He says most of the applications and inquiries came from the Espanola and Taos areas.

But he says his agency has heard from people across the state seeking information and applications on the rehabilitation program.

Earlier this month, the rural development agency counseled families in Espanola and Taos about how to apply for the rehabilitation funds.

The agency staff is checking applications to make sure those applying are eligible for the grants or loans.
