NM Governor Orders Flags At Half-Staff

Gov. Susana Martinez has ordered flags around New Mexico to fly at half-staff on Memorial Day in honor of those men and women who have died while serving in the military.

The governor said in an executive order signed Wednesday that the country owes them a tremendous debt of gratitude.

She says New Mexico is home to thousands of active-duty, national guard, reservists and retired military personnel.

Martinez and first gentleman Chuck Franco will be in Las Cruces on Sunday evening to help veterans and volunteers place gravesite flags for veterans at the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

The placing of the flags will begin around 6 p.m.
