Las Cruces – The New Mexico National Guard says about 450 soldiers will deploy to Kosovo in January on a one-year peacekeeping mission.
The group will encompass five units from around New Mexico, drawing citizen soldiers from Rio Rancho, Las Cruces, Albuquerque, Santa Fe and Roswell.
In recent years, the New Mexico National Guard has deployed to Kosovo, Afghanistan, Iraq and Cuba.
Currently, there are also 82 guardsmen deployed to a mission on the Southwest border.
