Las Cruces, NM – SANTA FE, N.M. (KRWG) Former Las Cruces Mayor Bill Mattiace has been selected as the executive director of the New Mexico Border Authority.
The authority's board voted Monday to name Mattiace as director. He had served as deputy director and will replace Jim Creek, who retired last week.
Mattiace served as mayor from 2003 to 2007. He is also a former member of the New Mexico Partnership and Spaceport Community Advisory Committee.
The New Mexico Border Authority is an executive branch state agency that helps with development of the state's international ports of entry, job training capabilities, trade opportunities and other activities along the border.
