NM Police Officer Shoots At Colleagues

A Los Lunas officer has been stripped of her badge and car after police said she shot at fellow officers during a house party.

KOAT-TV reports that police say Delinda Chavez was placed on administrative leave following the bizarre ordeal at a housewarming party early Saturday.

Investigators say Chavez was off-duty when she pulled a gun out in front of another officer and a relative and began firing her weapon in the house.

Los Lunas police spokesman Nathan Gurule says other officers responding to the scene and believed bullets also went passed them.

Authorities said Chavez surrendered after state police called her.

Police said they believe alcohol was a factor.

It was unclear if Chavez had an attorney.
