NM Student Facing Deportation Set To 'Come Out'

By KRWG News

New Mexico – SANTA FE, N.M. (KRWG) The student is scheduled to share his story Tuesday at a press conference in the Capitol.

The El Paso-based Border Network for Human Rights is organizing the student's announcement and also is planning to bring more than 80 advocates from around the state to lobby state lawmakers as they begin a special session on redistricting.

Gov. Susana Martinez also wants the Legislature to end New Mexico's policy of granting driver's licenses to illegal immigrants.

Advocates say the student's story put a "human face" to immigrants living in the state without legal status.
