NM Title Company Under Investigation

FARMINGTON, N.M. (AP) — State officials are looking for hundreds of customers of an escrow company that closed amid allegations that money was used improperly including for a pro football game.

The Farmington Daily Times (http://bit.ly/JBhgTB ) reports J. Dee Dennis Jr., of the state's regulation and licensing department, said Monday the agency is missing addresses for nearly half of 900 accounts held at New Mexico Title Escrow Co.

Dennis says customers who do not receive a letter by May 25 should contact Darryl Millet, the Albuquerque attorney leading an audit.

Court documents allege the title and escrow company, which closed in January, used funds for a $130,000 executive suite at the Denver Broncos' football stadium. They also charge the company kept $78,000 in cash at the business instead of a bank, as required by regulation.
