NMSU Extension Office To Hold Preparedness Workshop

New Mexico State University's Dona Ana County Extension Office will host their Preparing Communities for Animal, Plant and Food Incidents Workshop from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Dec. 14 at Gerald Thomas Hall Room 336, on the NMSU campus. The event is free.

"This workshop is designed to enhance community-wide preparedness and response to incidents involving animals, plants and food," said Teresa Dean, the agricultural livestock and 4-H agent for Dona Ana County.

Participants will examine the extent to which accidental, intentional and naturally occurring incidents can affect daily operations in the food and agriculture industry. Using case studies, the course demonstrates how an incident can alter the lives of people both locally and thousands of miles away.

While the event is free, participants should RSVP to the Dona Ana County Extension Office by calling 575-525-6649 by Dec. 12. Lunch will not be included.
