New Mexico State University has been recognized as one of the best institutions for Hispanics in the United States, according to the Top 100 Colleges and Universities for Hispanics as featured in the May edition of The Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education.
Using data from the Department of Education, NMSU ranked in the top 25 in both total bachelor’s degrees granted (24th) and graduate student enrollment (22nd). NMSU awarded 1,193 bachelor’s degrees (46 percent) to Hispanics, and 1,089 Hispanic students (34 percent) were enrolled in graduate school.
Additionally, NMSU ranked 73rd in undergraduate enrollment across both two- and four-year schools with 7,043 Hispanic students (52 percent).
The Top 100 Colleges and Universities for Hispanics article also included lists of the top 10 bachelor’s degrees awarded by academic programs. NMSU was ranked seventh in bachelor’s degrees in education with 118 of 199 or 59 percent awarded to Hispanics, and NMSU posted the second-best percentage (30 percent) in the top 10 and ranked ninth for agriculture/agriculture operations bachelor’s degrees awarded (29 of 97).

Additionally in spring 2015, NMSU was ranked in the top 10 percent for value-added mid-career salary in a Brookings Institute report. Value added is the difference between a college’s predicted and actual student economic outcomes, as defined in the report.
