NMSU Offers Free Tuesday Night Dance Classes

New Mexico State University’s College of Education DanceSport Company offers free dance lessons every Tuesday night starting at 7 p.m. Classes are held at Rentfrow Gymnasium.

Beginning classes in salsa, foxtrot, cha-cha, waltz, east coast swing, tango and Viennese Waltz will be taught. Experience isn’t necessary and a partner is not required. Advanced classes are offered at 8:15 p.m. for $5 per session. The lessons conclude Dec. 2 with a dance party.

“These lessons help us to fulfill our mission to foster a thriving regional dance community and to promote partner dance as a healthy lifestyle alternative,” said Hannah Cole, NMSU DanceSport Company coach and dance assistant professor.

NMSU DanceSport Company members teach the lessons, which are a practicum for professional development. Classes will not be taught on Nov. 25 due to Thanksgiving break.
