New Mexico State University is promoting a project using solar panels to operate remote wells.
The school's Northern New Mexico Outreach Project is hosting Friday a solar panel field demonstration at Acoma Pueblo to show how it can be done.
Officials believe it could replace repairing the old windmills out on the range.
Richard Montoya of the Natural Resources Conservation Service also will present updates on programs.
