NMSU Selected As Child Protection Training Center

New Mexico State University has been selected to serve as a regional training center for prosecutors, law enforcement officers and others who focus on child protection efforts.

Gov. Susana Martinez made the announcement Wednesday at a child welfare and law conference in Albuquerque. She says it will be a benefit not only to New Mexico, but states throughout the Southwest.

The National Child Protection Training Center is establishing regional centers around the country to expand access to training and technical assistance for those who work with children.

The center at NMSU will offer training related to physical and sexual abuse cases as well as forensic interviewing. It will also help develop of community child abuse prevention programs.
