NMSU Student Advocacy Group Helps Spread Holiday Joy in Mexico
By Evan Woodward
Las Cruces, NM – Sunday December 16th marked the beginning of Las Posadas: a nine day festivity celebrated by many Christian Latin Americans which symbolizes the difficulty they believe Joseph and The Virgin Mary went through finding a place to stay just before the birth of Jesus. Last week the New Mexico State University student group: Advocates to Stop Chihuahua Femicides, along with some NMSU faculty members helped bring cheer, toys, and food to lots of children living in Lomas de Poleo, Mexico just outside of Ciudad Juarez. . As KRWG's Evan Woodward reports the celebration was complete with pi atas, music, and lots of happy kids.
