NMSU Student Group Fundraising For Typhoon Relief

The New Mexico State University Study Abroad Ambassadors are a student group with a worldview, and they have been motivated to help raise money for the typhoon relief efforts in the Philippines. The group is donating a portion of the proceeds from Friday's "By Golly We've Gone Global" Event.

The fundraising event is at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the West End Art Depot, 401 N. Mesilla St. The event showcases international and local talent in an evening open to students, faculty, staff and the Las Cruces community. Tickets are $5, and all proceeds earned from the event have historically gone toward the creation of comfort packages for incoming international exchange students.

Following the devastation from Typhoon Haiyan that recently struck the Philippines, the NMSU Study Abroad Ambassadors decided to donate a percentage of their earnings to relief efforts.

The NMSU Student Abroad Ambassadors along with the International Club of NMSU plan to setup tables around campus so that faculty, staff and students have an opportunity to donate money that will go directly to relief efforts. Donations also can be made online through the American Red Cross Typhoon Haiyan relief fund, https://www.redcross.org/donate/index.jsp?donateStep=2&itemId=prod4650031.

The NMSU Study Abroad Ambassadors is an NMSU chartered student organization that works in association with the NMSU Office of Education Abroad.
