No Arrests Yet In Scam Targeting Migrant Children

Officials say scammers are preying on relatives of unaccompanied young migrants being held at two U.S. military bases by conning them into paying nonexistent fees to be reunited with their loved ones.

The FBI is trying to determine how many people were conned and how much money they lost.

FBI spokeswoman Michelle Lee says con artists are using private information about the children to contact their family members and demand payment for expenses the scammers falsely claim is needed to allow the kids to be reunited with their relatives.

The children whose families were targeted were staying at shelters at San Antonio's Lackland Air Force Base and Fort Sill in Oklahoma.

No arrests have been made.
