No Charges In Teacher Dragging Blind Santa Fe Student

The top prosecutor in Santa Fe says she's decided not to charge a special education teacher who dragged a blind student down a hallway.

District Attorney Angela "Spence" Pacheco said Wednesday that although the video of the incident was "distasteful," there was no evidence that the teacher harmed or intended to harm the uncooperative child.

The Santa Fe New Mexican reports Pacheco met with the parents of the 6-year-old Gonzales Community School student. She says they were very upset and wanted her to keep the teacher from ever working in schools again. Pacheco says that's up to the school.

The teacher says she dragged the boy Nov. 15 because he wouldn't go to another classroom. The teacher was placed on leave and wasn't identified because she was never charged.
