No Suspects Found In Shooting Of Air Force Base Security Officer

Authorities in Albuquerque have been unable to find any suspects in the overnight shooting of a Kirtland Air Force Base security officer.

Albuquerque police spokesman officer Robert Gibbs says the Air Force airman was not seriously injured in the shooting just before 1 a.m. Thursday.

Gibbs says the airman told investigators he was patrolling the Maxwell housing area near the base when he spotted four men. There was an altercation and the security officer said one of the suspects shot him with his own gun.

Gibbs says the officer was hit in the lower abdomen just below his bullet-proof vest but the bullet went through-and-through and he was "doing fine" after the shooting.

Gibbs says a massive police response sealed the area but no one was found in a search.
