Obama Picks El Paso Judge For U.S. District Court

El Paso – President Barack Obama has nominated a federal magistrate in West Texas to become a U.S. district judge.

The White House on Wednesday night announced Obama has selected Judge David Campos Guaderrama of El Paso. He's expected to replace Senior U.S. District Judge David Briones and served in the state's western district.

Campos Guaderrama has been a magistrate in El Paso since last October. He previously spent 15 years as a state district judge in El Paso.

Campos Guaderrama holds a bachelor's degree from New Mexico State University. He received his law degree in 1979 from the Notre Dame Law School.
