Outside Team To Release UNM Sexual Assault Report

unm.edu

An outside team of experts plans to release its findings following a review of the campus culture on sexual assault at the University of New Mexico.

Team leader Jill Pilgrim and Dean of Students Tomas Aguirre are expected to discuss the findings during a presentation Thursday.

In December, the U.S. Department of Justice announced it was launching an investigation into the university's handling of reported sexual assaults and sexual harassment of students.

The investigation will examine the university's policies for preventing sexual assault and sexual harassment. It also marks the latest effort by federal officials to change the way colleges around the country respond to allegations of sexual assault.

Aguirre said the school had made a number of changes within the last year and a half to prevent sexual assaults.
