A southbound Rail Runner passenger train has collided with a car south of Albuquerque, and the train system says a person was killed.
Television news video shows a heavily damaged car off to the side of the tracks Friday morning, and a notice posted on the Rio Metro Regional Transit District's web site says the train is having a major delay and will not continue because of a fatality.
Transit spokeswoman Augusta Meyers told the Albuquerque Journal that one person was killed and a second critically injured.
The district says buses are being provided to transport train passengers. Another notice says a northbound train is being canceled.
The Rail Runner service runs between Santa Fe on the north and Belen on the south.
