Pearce: I’m Running For Governor To Change New Mexico’s Direction

Jul 10, 2017

Commentary: HOBBS – Former businessman and military veteran Steve Pearce announced today that he is a candidate for governor in 2018.

“I’m running for governor to change the direction of the state I love and call home. New Mexico has such great potential, but we need leadership to move the state forward. Too many people are struggling to find jobs and to many families are wrestling with poverty. Our kids are working their way through a broken education system.  Crime has taken over our streets. We can do better. We have to do better.”

“When I was born, my father was a sharecropper and my mother worked in the fields when she could get work. When she became a substitute schoolteacher, she knew that she had broken free. I’m a veteran and a former businessman. Those experiences have shaped my entire life. We didn’t have much growing up, but we knew that if we worked hard, we would have the opportunity to succeed. I love this state and it breaks my heart that people don’t see a future here. Every New Mexican who wants a job should be able to find one.

“Everyone in New Mexico matters – whoever you are, wherever you’re from. And everyone needs New Mexico to change. I know that if we work together, we can share a vision and recreate a better New Mexico.  That’s exactly what I’ll do as governor.”

Steve Pearce serves the people of New Mexico’s 2nd Congressional District and will continue to fulfill those responsibilities over the course of the campaign.
