Pearce, O'Rourke Reintroduce Border Accountability Act

Rep. Steve Pearce (R) New Mexico

Commentary: Congressman Steve Pearce (NM-02) along with Congressman Beto O’Rourke (TX-16) reintroduced the Border Enforcement Accountability, Oversight, and Community Engagement Act.

“It is Congress’s responsibility to ensure the communities along the border region, and the Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) agents assigned to protect it, have the resources they need to be safe and secure where they live and work. For those who live on the border, a certain level of oversight, as with all areas of the government, is important for the day-to-day interaction CBP has with surrounding communities. For CBP agents, this means providing them with the training and tools to achieve their security mission,” stated Rep. Pearce. “I am proud to join Congressman O’Rourke again this Congress to push needed reform for the safety and security of our border regions. Together, we can leave party lines behind to move towards real solutions that better protect our communities, CBP agents, and nation from vulnerabilities along the border.”
