Congressman Steve Pearce is speaking out about the government shutdown.
Republicans are linking the federal health care plan to the budget battle because they contend the costs of it could severely harm the U.S. economy. Democrats say it is legislation that has already been approved as "settled law" upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court. They insist that spending and debt ceiling bills are vital in their own right and should not come with conditions attached.
In his weekly radio program, Republican Congressman Steve Pearce said his constituents at a recent town hall were divided about the shutdown….but there was strong support for budget reform.
Pearce contends budget cuts are needed, because the current deficit spending is not sustainable, and a Congressional Budget Office report agreed.
