Pearce Reacts To Jobs Report

Rep. Steve Pearce (R-NM 2)

Congressman Steve Pearce released the following statement regarding the monthly Jobs Report released by the Department of Labor.

“I am pleased to see better than expected job growth in September, however we cannot become complacent with the slow improvements we have seen.  As a nation, we have significant work left to be done,” said Pearce.  “The reality is that workers in New Mexico and across the country continue to struggle with a sluggish economy laden with inflation.  Over 9 million Americans are still unemployed, over 7 million people remain underemployed and at just about 62%, our nation continues to have a labor participation rate so low it has not been matched since the 1970s.  It is the federal government’s responsibility to create an environment conducive to job creation and economic growth, something the House of Representatives have been working the past 2 years to accomplish.  Currently, there are over 40 bills the House has passed waiting for action in the Senate.  The Senate cannot continue to delay.  Delay only continues to provide millions of Americans with uncertainty at home simply trying to make ends meet.”
