Pence Rallies Supporters In Las Cruces

Hundreds of supporters greeted Vice Presidential hopeful Mike Pence at the Las Cruces airport.

Pence spent a lot of time discussing Democratic Opponent Hillary Clinton’s scandals with the support of the crowd.

“I mean here are the facts,” Pence said. “While Hillary Clinton was Secretary of State of the United States in charge of all our foreign policy, She has a private family foundation that took millions of dollars from foreign governments. And in between those two things she had a private server that after it was found out after Congress subpoenaed her for the content of those emails, She used high technology and hammers to delete them.”

Pence also discussed a variety of issues from national security, to the Supreme Court, to the economy.

“They tell us this economy is the best that we can do,” Pence said. “But I think New Mexico knows better. It’s nowhere near the best that we can do. It’s just the best they can do. And when Donald Trump becomes President of the United States, we’re going to put common sense, conservative principles into practice and we’re going to get America working again.”

Trump supporters attending the rally discussed issues important to them.

“I’m supporting Donald Trump because he said he would be our voice,” Linda White said. “And I’ve been frustrated for so long with the way people are ignoring our laws. We’re a country of constitutional laws. And I feel like it’s being run over.”

“I would say the economy and immigration are very important,” Patrick Ramirez said. “Because our children need to have jobs in the future.”

“I came here 20 years ago to this country and it was a beautiful country,” Adriana Morgan said. “And I’ve seen things changing a lot ever since. Because of politics of course, and I like the fact that Mr. Trump is not a politician, a career politician, so he has fresh ideas.”

“I think jobs are the most important issue,” Frank Carril said. “Not for me, I’m retired, but for our next generations. And if you notice like in this county here, If you don’t work for the government, the city, or the university, basically there’s no jobs over 10 or 11 dollars, so our children have to leave.”

Before the rally, Trump supporters clashed with a small group of protestors. Las Cruces Resident Sarah Silva says they were protesting hateful remarks

“I’ve never had so much hate thrown at me before,” Silva said. “I was simply telling my story, my family came from Chihuahua as farm workers in the late 50’s, and people were telling me to shut up, I was getting flipped off, I was being told to leave.”

Trump supporters at the rally said comments from Trump that some view as offensive, don’t change their vote.

“We all as humans have said things that we have regretted,” Adriana Morgan said. “And I am sure that what he said is not meant out of hate.”

“Everybody has their freedom of speech,” Ray Guerra said. “I mean that’s the thing about America. You should be able to say what you want to say, and not be hated for it.”

“Comments he’s made,” Linda White said. “Everybody makes comments, His comments do not affect my life, his comments in the past of his own personal views, or of his opinions, don’t affect my beliefs.”

Governor Pence encouraged everyone to vote early and on November 8th.

“This race is on,” Pence said. “We are leading in several national polls, and we are leading in several national polls, and it’s all tied up here in New Mexico.”
