Police: Four Youths Broke Into Clovis Zoo, Entered Monkey Area

CLOVIS, N.M. (AP) — Police say four New Mexico juveniles are being questioned after security footage showed a group jumping over a zoo fence into a monkey area.

The Eastern New Mexico News reports Clovis police said the group hopped the fence, got in the Clovis zoo, and then they went into the primate area and kicked the window out.

Hillcrest Park Zoo Director Vince Romero says three marmosets affected by the destructive antics Friday morning were not harmed or lost after the suspects broke their window.

Clovis Police Capt. Roman Romero says the investigation is ongoing, but the suspects had been identified.

No arrests have been made.

The cost of the damage has not been released.
