Police: Man Accused Of Threatening Guest At Las Cruces Hotel

An Albuquerque man is in custody for allegedly pulling a knife on a guest at a Las Cruces hotel.

Las Cruces police say 35-year-old Ahmaud Leyba is being held on suspicion of one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Officers were dispatched to the Days Inn Hotel about 11 a.m. Sunday.

Detectives learned that a hotel guest saw Leyba walking down a stairwell and decided to allow him to pass before proceeding up the stairs.

As Leyba approached the guest, Leyba is accused of pulling out a knife and threatening the man.

The victim went to the hotel lobby where someone called 911.

Police located Leyba at the hotel and took him into custody without incident.

It was unclear Monday if Leyba has a lawyer yet.
