Possible Flooding Victim Found

Deputies in western New Mexico say they have found the body of a man who appears to have died from recent flooding.  Catron Country Sheriff's Office said a hiker found the man Saturday in a sand bar off of the San Francisco River near Alma, N.M. in the Gila National Forest.

Under Sheriff Ian Fletcher says the sand bar had debris from the flood around the body. The body has been sent to the Officer of Medical Investigators for identification.

Fletcher says it was not known if the body was that of 83-year-old Howard Bassett.

He's the Arizona man who was reported missing after he was evacuated from the Silver Creek Inn in Mogollon and did not return to collect his belongings.
