New Mexico – Authorities say the inmates who escaped from Arizona prison last month have been linked to the investigation of the killing of a couple in New Mexico.
The Arizona Department of Corrections has said the three men escaped by cutting a hole in a northwestern Arizona prison's perimeter fence. A nationwide search has been was under way for the men.
New Mexico State Police spokesman Peter Olson said Saturday that two of the men and a woman who helped them have been linked through forensics to the investigation of the killing of the New Mexico couple.
The badly burned skeletal remains of Linda and Gary Haas of Oklahoma were found in a charred camper on Wednesday in eastern New Mexico.
