Protest Over Border Forum

By KRWG News

Las Cruces – The League of United Latin American Citizens is protesting a border security forum planned in Las Cruces on Tuesday at 9am at the Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum.

LULAC contends it's an anti-immigration forum that has invited a speaker from what LULAC says is a group that has close relationships with white supremacists, NumbersUSA.

NumbersUSA describes itself as an "immigration reduction organization."

But a spokesman for the forum said on Monday that the NumbersUSA representative has withdrawn from the conference.

LULAC wrote letters to New Mexico State University and the Las Cruces Chamber of Commerce to complain about their involvement with the forum.

LULAC State Director Pablo Martinez says civil rights groups also are considering a protest at the conference.
